Voyah Free Review
UAE is a very multi-faceted market, with cars from everywhere around the world. From stalwart German and Japanese brands to emerging Chinese manufacturers, particularly in the EV segment. So, buyers have unprecedented choice.
Among these offerings is Rabdan One, marketed as a made-in-UAE electric vehicle but essentially a rebadged version of China's Voyah Free. Although it’s assembled by NWTN motors in Dubai, it carries the DNA of its parent state-owned Chinese brand, Dongfeng Motors.
This article dives into the Voyah Free (or Rabdan One as it’s known in UAE), exploring its exterior and interior design, engine performance, driving range, competitive positioning in the market, and ultimately whether it’s worth your investment.
Exterior and Interior Design
The Voyah free exudes a European-inspired sophistication. Its sharp, squared-off front bumper, concave grille, and full-width LED light bar lend a sporty yet premium stance. Dongfeng calls says it’s a yacht-inspired body design to minimize wind resistance.
If you move to the side, you’ll see flush door handles that pop up as you approach. And the 20-inch wheels (polish to mirror shine) scream ‘premium’. Its infrared night vision sensors and the 360-degree camera system further enhance safety without compromising the car’s clean lines.
Speaking of size, its 4,905 mm length and 2,980 mm wheelbase make it longer and roomier than the Model Y (4,750 mm) and BMW iX3 (4,734 mm), giving it a more imposing stance on the road. The squared-off front bumper and yacht-inspired body lines echo the muscularity of a Range Rover but with EV flair.
Inside, the cabin is a sanctuary of sustainable luxury. The Voyah’s OEKO-TEX-certified leather seats are hypoallergenic and baby-skin soft, paired with contrasting upholstery in three different trims (discussed later).
The showstopper is the one-piece liftable triplex screen: three displays that rise like magic when you start the car. And if you want a massage while cruising, the seats have you covered (literally, with heating, cooling, and 8-point massages).
Moreover, the air you breathe is filtered 24/7 by a system that fights germs, PM2.5 dust, and even pumps out custom fragrances. The roof is fancy too with a panoramic sunroof. The smart system lets you adjust tint levels with a tap.
Available Colors and Accessories
If we talk about the original manufacturer, plug-in hybrid and BEV variants are available for Voyah Free. However, in the UAE landscape (in the form of Rabdan One), only extended-range electric vehicles (EREV) is available.
Voyah Free is available in five exterior color shades: Black, Rhodo White, Cloud Grey, Sky Blue, and Ocean Blue. Three unterior options include Dark, Rice Brown, and Blue Brown trims.
Since a singular model is available, premium features like matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, an intelligent air management system, and level 2 ADAS, are standard.
Engine and Performance
Voyah Free has a hybrid powertrain, which is known to extend range. The range-extender, the particular model, we’re discussing has a 1.5L turbocharged engine that paired with a generator charges a 33kWH battery, which in turn powers a dual motor setup. Collectively, that setup provides a power of 684 hp.
With this engine + motor setup, Voyah can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs in its category. The achievable top speed is 200 km/h.
Mileage and Fuel Efficiency
Considering the peculiar nature of its powertrain, where a generator powers its battery, the hybrid vehicle provides a much higher fuel efficiency than counterpart fuel vehicles.
The car’s fuel tank is about 56 liters, and its fuel consumption is about 1.3L/100 km. If you run it solely on electric mode, then it provides about 140 kilometers per charge. The collective range is about 960 kilometers with a completely filled fuel tank and full charge car.
Competitors and Market Comparison
Rabdan one is priced at about 240,000 AED putting it closer to hybrid and electric SUVs like Tesla Model Y (AED 230,000), Audi Q4 e-tron (AED 214,000), and Lexus NX 350h+ (AED 260,000).
Each of these has prominent brand names and a global presence, but if we compare features on paper, Voyah Free does shine in some aspects. Tesla Model Y offers faster charging and Autopilot, but it lacks the Rabdan’s 1.5L range extender. The Audi Q4 e-tron leans on its premium badge and Quattro AWD, but its 520 km pure EV range falls short, and it misses luxe features like massaging seats or a triplex screen. The same is true for Lexus, it seems more reliable, but futuristic tech and range are missing.
Final Verdict
If we see the price point, well, it’s comparable to competitors and probably higher than most Chinese EV SUVs, maybe because of the “Made in UAE” aspect. So, should one buy it? Getting skeptical about it is fine since the brand is very new. But’s here my take:
The Voyah Free is not like other EVs. It’s a range-extender hybrid, a rarity in the UAE market. Yes, Chinese brands like BYD or NIO offer cheaper EVs, but none combine to provide a range of 960km (LTC), massaging seats, and night vision tech at this price.
So, buy it if you‘ve range anxiety and want an EV without charger dependency. Or if luxury tech matters more than badge prestige to you.
Skip it if you’re loyal to German brands or Tesla’s charging network. And pure EV range suffices for your daily needs.
